I was 17 when I got sober. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my family or Breakout. One of the best things about everyone at Breakout and the people in recovery is that they don’t care what you’ve done or how you got there - they only care about getting better and turning lives around. I whole-heartedly believe that if it wasn’t for my Breakout family I wouldn’t be the person that I am today and I most definitely wouldn’t have five years sober! I encourage every young person that’s going through something rough to try it out! You won’t regret it.

Breakout didn’t just save my life, it showed me how to live that life successfully. They taught me things like how to get rid of anger and resentments, what to do when I’m anxious, how to pause instead of reacting, and most importantly how to trust in my Higher Power. Now I have 2 ½ years sober, a career, and my family doesn’t hide the jewelry when I visit.

I had been cutting for a couple of years before I came to Breakout, and I also struggled with binge eating. With the help of the steps and my higher power, Jesus Christ, I was able to get help with my depression and anxiety and learned to manage it. Today I am two years clean from cutting and married to a wonderful husband with a beautiful baby on the way.
