WHO WE ARE

Breakout exists to assist with the recovery process of youth who struggle with addiction and other challenges. We introduce a 12-step program for recovery and our groups meet weekly to help encourage, support, and hold each other accountable during this journey.

ANDY ARNOLD

I’m Andy and I’m a drug addict. I start off that way because I can never forget that fact. On September 22, 2008 I experienced real grace – the kind of grace that can’t be denied and has to come from God. That was the last day I ever injected methamphetamines into my body. From that moment I set out on a journey to follow that feeling of freedom as far as it would take me.

That journey led me to the discovery of my real purpose in life. I came to understand that God had given me a gift to help addicts. I dedicated my life to helping others find that peace of mind and experience the same grace. I feel a deep sense of responsibility to carry that message and I continue to pursue it with all the passion I can muster.

I’ve come to understand what adolescents need in the way of recovery, which has helped me develop the foundational precepts that make up Breakout. There are many parts to that puzzle and so many people that contribute in countless ways. It’s been incredible to see how God orchestrates infinite parts to come together for His purpose! The fact that He used a burned out junkie and other addicts to accomplish it is more than my mind can wrap around.

MELISSA RAINS

Hi, I am Melissa and I have been working a 12- step program since 2014. I am the child of an alcoholic/addict and I also became an alcoholic/addict.

As a teenager, I was bullied and I struggled with depression and anxiety; I was dyslexic and A.D.D, so I struggled with school; I suffered abuse from family and others. I tried every possible way to recover and heal – Switching up drugs, just using on weekends, moving to new towns, and even isolation. The problems followed me every time… UNTIL I started to work this program.

The 12steps of AA & NA are the solution to life issues for me. I am here for you because I get it and I have been where you are. I won’t judge you. I want to listen and I want to teach you how to live this life with joy and peace.

BARBIE JENKINS

My name is Barbie, and I am an addict. I have dealt with addiction in many different forms: drugs, alcohol, mental health, codependency, depression, anxiety, cutting, unhealthy relationships and failed suicide attempts. I grew up in a family of addicts and seemed to follow that path very well. I learned toxic habits and never learned how to deal with my emotions as they came to me.

I started experimenting with drugs and alcohol at the age of 12. As I got older, other things kept me occupied until life hit me hard after a divorce, losing my dad, and trying to raise two kids on my own along with juggling a full-time career.

I never found the love and support I needed until I found Breakout. My passion in life is helping others – I was an EMT for 9 years, but my addiction got the best of me. After a DUI, multiple arrests, and finally prison, I lost my career.

Now that I have found a better way through this program, my passion is helping young people who suffer through life’s challenges. I want all the kids that I come across to feel loved, welcomed, and that they have a place that they never feel judged or alone. The struggle is real!
